Each fall, winter, and spring, several waterfront homeowners hang cages filled with baby oysters from their piers. Participants make sure the cages remain fully submerged, shaking them free of debris once a month so free flowing water can carry food to the oysters inside. Scott MacMullan picks up the baby oysters each summer, and returns the matured oysters to a reef in the Severn River.

​From May through August, local scientists and volunteers collect water samples in Cove of Cork. The samples are tested for enterococci, which indicate fecal contamination and the potential presence of pathogenic bacteria. Data are published every Thursday on the Operation Clearwater website.

As of March 17, 2025, the Cove of Cork 6-knot speed zone has expanded by approximately 300 feet towards the Severn River. This will mitigate destructive wake damage and promote safe vessel operations.
